The magnificent Westport Golf Club is the finest Parkland Golf Facility in the West of Ireland. Just a “drive & a 3 iron” from Westport, this scenic splendour encapsulates 260 acres of undulating parklands which has played host to many historic days in the Irish Golf most notably Major Champion Rory McIlroy’s victory (aged 15) in the Irish Amateur Close Championship back in 2005.

Ryder Cup Captain Paul McGinley also has some fond memories of the Carrowholly course ….. winning the Smurfit P.G.A Championship back in 2002; 6 months before he rolled in the winning putt at the Belfey. McGinley also acknowledges that the 15th at Westport as one of his “favourite par 5s in the world”.

Academy

The club is delighted to offer an excellent practice facility less than pitching wedge from the 1st hole; which is open all year round. The Westport Golf Academy includes a 20 bay flood-lit driving range, 9 of which are covered with the remaining 11 comprising of a mixture of an elevated driving area and a ‘fairway zone’. We also have a double bunkered chipping green with two unique pin positions. Our undulating 9-hole putting green is situated at the first tee and has been developed to best simulate the course type and conditions.

Buggy Fleet

The 1st at Westport Golf Club

Following your warm up or lesson, spoil yourself and your playing partner by availing of one of our buggy cars. The front 9 at Westport is relatively flat but the back 9 with majestic views of Croagh Patrick and Clew bay may encourage you to avail of one of our electric vehicles. There are 10 for hire, weather permitting. The Fred Hawtree designed course is situated on 260 acres of mature estate lands and there is great demand for our buggy fleet… we would always advise you pre-book to avoid disappointment.

Resident Canadian Professional Todd O’Reilly joined the staff in March 2010 and is a student of the game for 25 years. He secured his Class A designation in 2006 and has completed Level 1-4 of the CPGA Teaching and Coaching Certification Program. Having trained at Capilano and the Banff Springs, two of Canada’s finest Clubs, Todd enjoys teaching players of all abilities, especially beginner and junior golfers. Everyone is unique, in both the way they learn and swing the club and his approach to the
individual enables golfers to improve their skills and enjoyment of the game. Todd is a great believer in continuous learning in both golf and life and his philosophy is best summed up by,

‘Golf is meant to be enjoyed, not struggles with!’.

The 19th @ Westport

Every golf club can be judged on its 19th hole and Westport Golf Club is no different. Open daily from 10am visitors can enjoy a spacious lounge area with comfortable seating, two televisions and a pool table. Our restaurant staff have years of experience in catering to patrons with a locally sourced bar food menu and a la carte service in the evening time. With seafood a particular speciality, private parties can be catered for with an extensive wine list also available. Special golf/meal deals are available to golfing groups…. with our regulars.
Westport Golf Club can also offer a buffet style “al fresco” menu. Diners can avail of this special experience while viewing the golfers on both the 1st and 18th holes. Barbecues are a speciality and to date there has been no need for a “smoke on the course” ruling during any club competition.

Air conditioned locker rooms are available for visitors prior to their round at Westport Golf Club. This is also an opportunity to meet with members and the chance to get some local knowledge about our Championship Course.
